Cabaret 2008

Last night was the girls mid-year performance for the various dancing that they do. The excitement had been building up for weeks as we put together the costumes, hairpieces and bits that they needed.

They were begging all morning to put their gear on, especially Ruby as it was her very first time on stage. (Ella's too, but she is learning patience as she gets older)

They were very good though, all having a sleep after lunch as it was going to be a late night for them. (and it was cold, very cold!!!)

In the breaks (there were 3 of them) all the kids were allowed on the stage to do their own thing and try and win spot prizes. Ruby won a packet of pencils.

Kate practicing the splits. Ouch!

Ruby & Ella having a go at the Macarena! How cute do they look!

I wonder what Ella is whispering to her niece?

Ruby tries the splits too.

Happiness

Every girl loves new clothes to play around in!

Party Pics

Kate had a small party at tenpin bowling last Sunday with a few friends from school. The girls all seemed to enjoy it and didn't want to leave! A very popular choice among seven year olds. Kate came third overall, not bad for only the second time she's bowled.

Hip Hip Hooray - What a wonderful day

HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY to OUR BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS

Awake at 5am, ready to start the special day, and to open the pile of presents

A 7th year guardian angel

Always the entertainer. A cheerleeding outfit from Ella.

Books always make a great gift.

Beads and a bracelet were on the 'wanted' list. Aren't these just beautiful?

The Singstar was a huge hit, many tunes were belted out tonight. I can see we are going to all become addicted to this very soon.

This fairies book is the most beautiful child's book I've seen in a long time. The illustrations are absoultely breathtakingly beautiful.

A must have book for the Princess in your life.

The birthday girl with her big sister having a singing contest!

This Day Seven Years Ago ...

was our last night of being a family of three.

We were waiting patiently for our second child to be born after more than 13 years.
It was like starting all over again.
A new life.

Our house and life became happier and richer for it.
A blessing.
Love.

A sibling at long last for Amie.
The excitement was building.

Off to wrap presents now for the sleeping beauty.
More reflections tomorrow.

I'm here I'm here!!

Sorry I haven't been around much, life is just so hectic somedays, it's neverending.

  • I am still sick though, but hopefully over the worst of it. The kids are sick too, to varying degrees, with rotten coughs, running noses, headaches - the works. Poor poppets. They've both had a few days off school and dancing, so with just two weeks left of the term, hopefully they'll be able to be there each day.

  • I don't have a camera at all now, I have been borrowing Amie's but she's taken it home now. I must do some research and get around to getting another.

  • Ella had her Obsticle-athon at school last Thursday, she managed to do 6 laps of the course which was a fantastic effort.

  • Kate & Ella are practising hard for their dancing exams coming up. Ella has ballet and Kate ballet & tap.

  • The girls Cabaret is in 2 weeks! Very exciting!

  • Phil is still on a four and one roster. We had a lovely week with him home last week, now it's back to just us again. Very quiet.

  • Ella's writing is blooming! She spends many many quiet times at home writing stories and making cards and pictures for her teachers and friends. Bless her.

  • Kate is reading a multitude of books and has started crossword puzzles. Hooray for more quiet activities.

  • Amie is loving her new house and her independence. We still see her every day and of course Ruby, so it's not really much difference. Well except there is less mess around and more food in the cupboard.

The same friend that I got the dollhouse from (see below) also gave me this gorgeous cake plate. I love it. It reminds me of my Grandmother who had lots of pieces of china in her kitchen with a very similar pattern.

Ella Kindy Item

Gosh I don't know what happened to these pics - they are so dark! Boo hoo!!
Anyway, Ella's class performed a little item at today's assembly - The Superman Dance! How cute they were too. I thought my girl might be a bit shy standing up on the stage in front of the whole school, but she wasn't. Good for her for getting braver as she gets older (she has been a very shy child all her life!)

Love Ruby's face in this pic! ~ Taken by Aunty Ella :)
I found this delightful children's book at the Rotary Book Sale. I remember my Mum reading this to me when I was a little girl and later on reading it myself. Over and over and over.

I loved Enid Blyton books.

I hope my girls enjoy it as well.

A new find

We got a beautiful dollhouse today from a friend who has daughters that have outgrown it! What a bonus for us. The girls played all afternoon with it, only stopping for a drink and snack.
Infact after dinner, they continued to play. Lovely seeing them enjoying something so much.
