School Excursion
Kate (along with the rest of the Year Six's and Sevens went on a school excursion today to John Forrest National Park. I wasn't able to go, so the photos are taken by Kate. She had a fabulous time (except when she fell and hit her head, but was ok) but came home absolutely exhausted and fell asleep on the couch. (She had been up since 5am though)

Monday

Face timing for the home kids! |
Delicious dinner |
The weather today was fantastic. Twenty Two degrees. It's going to be the same all week. Just fabulous. Kate was home sick today after putting herself to bed last night at 6pm with a sore throat, headache and temp. Up during the night, so with not much rest and still a headache she spent most of the day on the couch. Her and Jonah enjoyed face timing each other. I spent alot of the day outside. All the linen was washed and hung out. The chickens played outside (although the tiny ones would prefer to come in, and did for a bit when the door was left open) I visited a friend while Phil was home to stay with Kate. We finished off the day with a lovely roast dinner (which I didn't have to cook!)
I hope you all had a happy Monday too!

Out and About
Ella waits her turn |
Today I took Ella to her friend Alyssa's 10th birthday party at a bowling centre. The kids all had a great time (although too noisy for me) I didn't take many photos at all, too busy chatting to the other Mums!

Horse Trail Ride
We headed up into the hills today for a horse trail for Kates Birthday. It was her choice this year instead of a party. The boys stayed at home (Phil, Brendan and Jonah) and the girls went. Jonah is a bit too young yet.
Amie rode on JT, a beautiful chestnut gelding!
The girls rode ponies (due to it being so so busy this morning with lessons that all the 'horses' were taken)
We headed out the gate and off on our hour long ride.
The day was a glorious one. Warm in the sunshine and lots of blue sky. So peaceful in the country!
I was at the back all the way on a beautiful Appaloosa Mare called Suzie. No pictures of me I'm afraid, there really was no time!
Ruby was led most of the way on this Shetland Cross called Cocoa. Isn't she just gorgeous!
We couldn't have asked for a better day weather-wise. It's the best day we have had all week!
It was wonderful to see Kates confidence grow as we progressed along. She rode on Tinky.
We rode through lots of bush. In some place the track was down to single lane, so we all got back into line.
I only managed to get a quick photo at the end, as we were running behind time and the next people were waiting. Ella rode on Alice, a Welsh A mare.
Afterwards they sat on the 'pretend' horse!
We visited the ponies once they were back in their paddock.
When we got home, we had Kate's birthday cake that Amie made! Isn't it great!

Interschool Sports Day
Today, our Year Six's and Sevens competed against three other local primary schools in Winter Sports. Every child could choose netball, soccer or football ( boys only for football). Kate really wanted to play soccer but couldn't get in, so netball it was.
Her position was WA, which she quite enjoyed.
They were lucky the weather held up, it got a bit cool around one o'clock, but not too bad.
It was lovely so many parents and grandparents could come to watch the girls play!
Kate loves me to go along to support her in any school activity. I'm thankful to be in a position to be able to do that, it's especially important with only Amie here that I go to watch.
They played eight games altogether. Kate dances with quite a few of the girls from other schools, so it was nice to catch up with those.
Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. It's so important they have fun and they are not just out to win!
At the presentation, our school won three out of four divisions. Well done!

Chook Update
Muffin and Happy Feet at 5 weeks old |
Coco and Omelette like to sit on the doorstep and stare through the (dirty!) glass! |
Coco and Omelette 16 weeks. |
It looks like Coco might be a he, not a she. We first heard one crow about 4 weeks ago and then nothing, two weeks ago, we heard another crow and then nothing, yesterday morning and then this morning more crowing. It's looking more like a rooster (I think!) but is just so friendly, comes running as soon as we go outside and loves being carried around. I know hens can crow too where there isn't a rooster present, so not ready to swap him/her yet. Will wait and see if it lays an egg!
