Thursday

We decided yesterday that today would be a home day. The girls each had a friend over in the afternoon to play which they loved and the morning was spent pottering about. I got in and tackled Ellas room. It looks much better now. She has the smallest bedroom in the house (her choice) because she hates mess and by having the smallest room it means no one really hangs out in there. They usually hang in Kates room as hers is the master bedroom or in the spare room. I want to get another book case for Ella to give her more open storage as she is a collector of soft toys and is fast running out of room.

When their friends arrived I set up a game for them called the "taste test" where they got to try 12 different foods while blindfolded. They all did really well and guessed most of them correctly. It was really funny watching their reactions on their faces.

The chooks got plenty of attention today!

Wednesday

It was a pretty quiet day here with us only adventuring out late afternoon for a bit of shopping and then around 6pm we headed to the library.
There was only us and two other people in the library - perfect! The girls chose some books then chose a dvd to watch while I finished choosing. The loved playing around in the little kids area while it was empty.

Tuesday!

It was a quiet morning spent at home. Me doing inside jobs and the girls played Monopoly, played alot with the chooks, discovered one of the littlies laid (we aren't sure whether it's the same one that laid the soft-shelled egg the other day)so we got 3 eggs today. Wahoo! After lunch we went to the movies to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid - dog days which was really funny!

Ella was thrilled to find 'another' egg when she went to collect Omelettes. Kate had collected Phoebe's earlier
A first time egg is roughly the same size as a bantam egg

A Drive in the Country

We headed out of town today to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.  We visited New Norcia which is about 2hours drive away. New Norcia is the only monastic town in Australia.  You can read more about it here

Everything was lovely and green and the sky was so blue!
The red dirt made an awesome contrast
We saw lots of trucks on the road
First we visited the museum and art gallery (no photos were allowed to be taken inside)
I love all the old buildings
A large tour group was going on a 2hr walk of the town
The girls check out an old washing machine in an outside shed
Kate checked out the brick maker
The clock across the road chimed when it was 2pm
Pretty purple Iris's
I love this photo
30 deg means little legs need a little rest
The old flour mill
Open space for miles
We headed to the local hotel for food and drinks after that walk!
Despite the heat, there was a nice breeze blowing through
We passed lots of fields of canola
and not many cars going home
