The Cubby

During the second week of the school holidays the girls' made a cubby in the loungeroom with nearly every sheet, blanket and towel?? in the linen press. It was enormous with inside storage for all their bits and pieces. They slept in it for 6 nights until Phil came home and we needed the room back. They loomed in there, ate in there, read in there and fought in there. The cat visited. I had to visit too. I hear whispers of them making it again on Wednesday afternoon after Phil goes away again.

Such wonderful memories they made!

Early Sunday Morning

The morning was overcast with a promise of much needed rain. We have our fingers crossed. I let the chooks out, checked their food and refilled their waterers. Tossed out some King Kong for them.

I hung out the washing, then grabbed the camera and took some photos of the garden. It's good to go back and look at the last lot I took at the end of March and see how everything is growing.

The above photo was taken yesterday. It's that time of year again when lice and mites may have built up, so we dusted the chooks, coop, nesting boxes and dust baths with DE. All happy chickens now!

Mischief!

One day during the recent school holidays, the girls tidied out the linen cupboard for me (they were trying to earn some money for shopping!) I must say they did a great job. I probably would have done a few things differently but a really good effort for a first time from 11 and 12 year olds. What did amuse me, was when I was uploading some photos from my camera that I took, I came across some they had taken from that day.

Enjoying the Weather

We have all been enjoying the autumn weather. Finally the skies opened up and delivered some decent rainfall. The nights have cooled down, perfect for snuggling under the doona. The garden (and weeds!) are growing like crazy. The cat is enjoying time in the straw while the chooks are out!

Easter 2014

Yesterday the girls' were up early for the Easter egg hunt! We are all chocoholics in this house, so we did endulge slightly! After we cleaned up, we headed out and picked up Amie and the kids and headed to Adventure World for what will probably be our last visit this season. The kids all had a great time as always, and it wasn't too packed.
