A Drive in the Country

We headed out of town today to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.  We visited New Norcia which is about 2hours drive away. New Norcia is the only monastic town in Australia.  You can read more about it here

Everything was lovely and green and the sky was so blue!
The red dirt made an awesome contrast
We saw lots of trucks on the road
First we visited the museum and art gallery (no photos were allowed to be taken inside)
I love all the old buildings
A large tour group was going on a 2hr walk of the town
The girls check out an old washing machine in an outside shed
Kate checked out the brick maker
The clock across the road chimed when it was 2pm
Pretty purple Iris's
I love this photo
30 deg means little legs need a little rest
The old flour mill
Open space for miles
We headed to the local hotel for food and drinks after that walk!
Despite the heat, there was a nice breeze blowing through
We passed lots of fields of canola
and not many cars going home

More on the Chooks!

One of our young chickens (Happy Feet) laid her first egg today. It was a soft shelled one and she laid in while roosting so it fell quite a way. She's only just 18 weeks old, so still very young.
The girls have given it a poke, hence the dents!

The chooks just go crazy whenever someone appears with some silverbeet. I grow extra in our garden especially for the hens.

School Holidays - Day 1 - Lesmurdie Falls

Lesmurdie Falls is a five minute drive from our house, so is very handy for a quick outing. We stayed home until 4pm today when we ventured out to the falls. Kate is still pretty tired after school camp so we didn't want to do too much.
The entrance in runs along the stream
This was Ella's first time there, Kate and I have been a few times together
Of course a stick is needed where there is water!
Time to ditch the shoes and roll up the pants!
There was a few other people about, a few getting wet!
And down they came ...
straight into the freezing water!

It was a lovely little break out of the house!
