Last Week of Summer Holidays

It's been a particularly hot summer so far. I've struggled to keep the garden going and the grass alive. Our retic is on the blink, so is one of our air cons (the main one in the lounge room) . Thank goodness for the roller shutters (and ceiling fans) Seriously they are fabulous. They block out so much of the heat making Perth summers more bearable.

We are into our final week of the long summer school holidays. I am not quite ready for the girls to go back, they are nowhere near ready they tell me! I love having them home, they are such good company. I'm not looking forward to the routine, the rush in the mornings, the school lunches, uniforms and homework.

We have all had a good break though. Lots of lazy days with no rushing and no stress. To me this is what the holidays are all about. Recharging for the term ahead.

Beautiful buds on "Mother's Love"

The school uniforms are all ready to go. Kates stationery is done, we have picked up her Macbook from high school. Tomorrow we will pop into Ellas school and pick up her books and find out what class she is in.

The feijoa trees are growing well

When I can muster up some energy and the weather cools again, I will head out the back to tackle the poor neglected vege garden and other areas. There is alot of work to be done out there though, so it might be awhile.

Anyone know what this might be? I grew it from a cutting, can't recall who gave it to me!

Happy Australia Day

With another scorching day predicted, we headed up the hill to a water park. The biggest drawcard going here was the half price entry, and free food (sausage sizzle, fairy floss and snow cones) We took a picnic too and Amie and the gang joined us. We stayed all day and the kids had great fun. Kate met up with a friend from dancing as well so we hardly saw her.

So Happy Australia Day from our house to yours, we are proud to call Australia home, and especially proud of our little Australian daughter and Grandchildren!

A Day Out

We headed to Adventure World today for our annual fun day there! I think it is very expensive for what it is, but the kids all really love it, so once a year we go. Kate invited her friend Jess along, who had never been before so it was a big adventure for her. We arrived at 10am when it opened. I was ready to go at 2pm when I suddenly felt unwell (it was 36 deg) but then I fell asleep and when I woke, I felt much better. We ended up staying until 5pm, when we managed to get everyone together in the same place (we went with Amie and her family) at the same time. The kids wanted to stay until closing (7pm) but I was over it by then.
Here's some pics from our day.

My Granny!

My dear Grannys birthday is today, not sure exactly when she was born, but think she was around 84/85 when she passed away on the 13th of December 1989. This picture was taken with Amie at 3 mths old.

Summer!

We went for a walk last night down to the creek. Well it used to be a creek, I think the pictures tell a better story.
