While the weather is still so gorgeous, we decided to spend Easter Sunday up in the hills at a favourite spot for the locals.
We threw some food in the picnic basket (we bought lunch up there, but well you know kids and fresh air = never stop eating!)
The water was icy cold despite the outside temperature, but that didn't stop lots of kids swimming.
After lots of swimming, the girls wanted to go canoeing! So we hired a canoe and rowed on the lake for an hour!
After the canoe, we had ice creams and then the girls had a final swim. By then it was nearly 4pm and they were starting to get cold. So we went for a walk, then back to our spot, packed up our things and headed for the car for the long drive home!

Easter Sunday!
Kate woke Ella up at 6am, then they woke me for their Easter egg hunt! It was all over pretty quickly. They were thrilled with what they got, plus new pj's and slippers (a tradition here) Lots of chocolate to get through!
Easter Activity - Marbled Eggs!
Yesterday, while Ella had her friend Zoe over, the girls had a go at making marbled eggs. It was a bit messy (of course, what craft isn't that includes food colouring!) they didn't turn out as well as expected, but they had lots of fun!
First we boiled some eggs, and let them cool |
The girls chose their eggs and cracked the shell |
They mixed food colouring, vinegar and an egg in each bag |
Carefully they made sure the egg was completely coated |
Once all the eggs were dyed, we put them in the fridge for 30mins |
The final colours |
Carefully the shells were peeled off |
Then we enjoyed eating them, with some extra flavour! |

Out the Back!
We finally got some rain (well one decent day) which of course the garden just loved. The passionfruit is really starting to take off now.
Kate chose to do some homework outside the other day. It was a warm afternoon and quieter out there watching the chooks!
Sometimes they like to lay alone ... |
and other times together. |

Kate!
I posted awhile ago that Kate tried out for the school hip-hop team. She didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks, then got a letter offering her a place! Of course, she accepted. Only two year 7's made it through the auditions. It means a long day for Kate on a Wednesday. Hip-hop starts at 7:30am. We leave home at 6:45am to beat the traffic and so she has time to go to her locker and sort her books for the day. After dance, she heads to breakfast club for a second breakfast. Wednesday after achool she has her singing class, and her regular hip-hop class until 8:15pm. She's loving it though!
This is the PE uniform for winter! |
