Out the back

It was a beautiful winter day yesterday, so we put the guinea pigs in a temporary outside pen we made, the chooks were loving the weather, and the cat joined us too! The garden is growing well. Ella and I took these photos! Enjoy!

Crazy Hair Disco

Ella attended her school disco last night, with the theme of "crazy hair". She did it all herself using pipe cleaners and different colour hair sprays. She was awarded a medal for runner up girls!

Operation Kate

Kate finally had her knee surgery yesterday after an error late Friday which saw us having to change days (only by a day thank goodness) and hospitals.
She was very brave (much more than I was feeling never having an OP in my life!) and went into theatre around 1:40pm. She was back in her room just after 2:30pm feeling sore but very hungry. She ate half a sandwich, then felt sick (as you do) and then continued to vomit until we decided to make a run for home about 6:45pm. She was sick on the freeway home (not nice when I was driving and couldn't pull over) and continued once home. She finally settled down to sleep in the wee hours and as I type this post up, thankfully she is still asleep.
I only took photos up until she ate that half sandwich. I must say, I have never seen her so white, poor girl!

tucking in post-OP. Soon after the sickness started.
So I took photos as the sun started to set
Love the autumn colours

Chicken Run Extension

We have built a new enclosed run for the chooks over the last couple of days, partly because they were slowly destroying all of our lawn and partly because they were making far too much mess on the patio. The holes they were digging were getting deeper by the day and we were slowly falling in them! They will still get out on the grass from time to time, but only when I am out there with them. We have made the run so it is part of our backyard sustainable living, so our current vege gardens and fruit trees are in the run. They also have access behind the shed and around to another area that will become gardens down the track. So really they will now be off the small lawn area where the kids play, and off the concrete. We will be growing something up the netting, not sure what yet!
