Back to School
The holidays are over. It's back to uniforms, packed lunches, homework and out of bed at 7am. It's going to be hard. We've enjoyed every minute of the break. I've loved hanging out with the girls. We only really did a few outings preferring to relax at home. As we go out alot during term time, it's nice to be able to potter around the house catching up on neglected chores, reading with no clock watching, late leisurely breakfasts, and sitting down to watch a movie at 8:30pm if we please. Here we go Term Three! The year is flying by fast!

Enjoying more of the sunshine!
With the grandkids here today and tonight for a sleepover, we headed out today to The Maze today to keep them occupied. We all had a blast, and hopefully everyone will sleep well tonight!

More winter sunshine!
We had to venture down to Fremantle today to exchange a gift, so we found a lovely cafe and had some lunch. The girls' were occupied with colouring-in to do. On the way home, we stopped and enjoyed some more of Perth's fabulous winter sunshine!

Winter Sunshine!
We had a home day today after the girls seemed tired (especially Ella who hardly moved from the couch all day) and seeing it was such a beautiful day, we got outside for most of it. The lawns got mowed, the garden beds were weeded, some winter pruning was done, the chook house cleaned. In the afternoon sun, Gordon and I snoozed on the day bed. It was a lovely day!

Tuesday Outing
After a slow start this morning (got to love the holidays!) and Kate needing to be at dancing for upcoming exam practices at 3:30pm, we only popped out for a couple of hours for the girls to go roller skating.
The place was absolutely packed as would be expected, not good when I had a headache to begin with. The kids loved it however, and that is the main thing.
It was pretty hard to get any decent photos from where I was sitting (and I wasn't about to give up a good seat)

Weekend Work
We spent Saturday afternoon and all of Sunday extending the chook pen. The chooks had done a fine job of clearing up the garden for us, but now it was time to keep them more contained. They will still be allowed to free-range, but it will be when we are outside too and can keep an eye on them.
I'm so glad we got it mostly finished (still need to do the roof and paint when the weather is better) as today is raining and cool, so very much an indoors day.
Here's some pictures of it so far. I love the 'big' chook in the last photo!
We've tried to spend as less as possible, using recycled products where we can. The house was a bird aviary that was here when we bought the place, we could never really decide what to have in there. Their ladder perch is actually a towel rail that I got on clearance from the Reject shop. Works brilliantly. We'll grow some vines up the sides, probably another passionfruit and maybe a grape.
