School Camp 2012

Kate is back from camp, absolutely shattered but having had a blast.

Here are some photos from the trip.

On the way down they visited the old Fremantle Prison and the Children's Literature Centre.

Kate and her friend Jess in their classroom before they left

The next photos are of the camp where they stayed ...

Sunday Doings

With just Kate and I for most of the day (Phil is in Brisbane for work and Ella had a sleep-over with Ruby) I got really productive for a Sunday.
I made banana pikelets from this book  then queen cakes from this book
I painted the nesting box that Phil made last Sunday. After it was dry I left it outside to see if the chooks noticed.
I think they'll like them! The rest of the day was spent mowing, weeding and feeding the garden, cleaning the chicken coop and just pottering around. Kate had a friend over for the afternoon, Amie brought Ella home, the kids had a little play and they went home. All in all it's been a lovely Sunday.

The Food Garden

I've been busy planting our vegetable garden in the last few days. I've now run out of room, so when Phil gets back from Queensland, I'm going to get him to make me another one. There is still so much I want to grow!
I've planted alot of the girls favourites - strawberries, carrots and snow peas.

Purple pansies among the lettuces are a stunning colour display!
This purple capsicum should be a huge hit for a capsicum loving girls!

Sunday!

With such beautiful weather here yesterday (30 deg!) we stayed outside all day. It started off early with some exercise (the girls rode their bikes, I walked/ran, no photos), home for pancakes for breakfast and a shower for me. Kate planted pea seeds. Ella and I gardened. The girls played with the hose on the trampoline. WE ate ice cream sundaes for lunch! The girls played numerous games of basketball. The girls did some baking! Phil finally finished the roof on the chicken coop run. He built a new nesting box (finished way after dark!) now just needs to be painted. The girls' and I finished the day with a l-o-n-g bikeride and a play on the swings. Pizza for tea. Two very tired girls ready for bed!

I hope you all had a fabulous Sunday whatever you got upto!

Spring!

I've been spending every opportunity outside that I can. The weather is just gorgeous at the moment, so trying to get lots done before the weather gets too hot! I'm loving all the spring flowers out, the chooks are laying well, the herbs are growing like weeds and there are new seedlings in the vegetable garden.

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

This is what we experienced yesterday!

Perth's warm spring dayBEACH WEATHER: Perth is experiencing its warmest start to spring in 18 years. Picture: Kerris Berrington Source: PerthNow

JUST five days after a hailstorm and a maximum of 15.9C, the mercury has almost reached 30C as Perth has its warmest start to spring in 18 years.

The temperature reached 29.2C at 12.45pm this afternoon, which is 9C above the September average.
Perth has not experienced warm weather like this in early September since 1994 when also on September 9 the mercury reached 29.5C.
However, the onset of a sea breeze quickly cooled the temperature back to 25C.

The unusually warm early September weather comes after a string of very cool days in Perth this week.

I'm not looking forward to summer at all!
